What is out right now
Pokemon Pokopia is the current release drawing the most coverage. The build-and-decorate life sim starring Ditto shipped its free 2.0 update alongside Bubbly Basin, the first part of its Expansion Pass, adding underwater exploration and a new region. Early reviews have been positive.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A and its Mega Dimension add-on continue the Mega Evolution revival, with a long run of new Mega forms revealed across 2025 and 2026.
Pokemon Champions is the franchise's dedicated competitive battling title, built around bringing Pokemon forward from previous games rather than raising a new team from scratch.
What is coming
Pokemon Winds and Pokemon Waves are the next mainline entries, announced during the 30th anniversary Pokemon Presents and dated for a global 2027 launch, exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. They are the first mainline pair built for the new hardware from the ground up.
Also on the way: a re-release of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen on Switch, and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness joining Nintendo Classics on GameCube. Pokemon HOME starts supporting FireRed and LeafGreen in October, and completing the Pokedex in either game earns a Celebi in the phone version of Pokemon HOME.
One date to put in your diary now: Pokemon Bank closes on February 26, 2027, and transfers into Pokemon HOME stop with it. Anything still stored on a Nintendo 3DS needs moving before then.

Nintendo Life reports that a special Pokemon Pokopia announcement has been teased for the World Championships, and that a cloud island has since been revealed. No date, price or detail has been given.
Free in-game rewards are coming for Worlds week, Polygon reports
Polygon says free add-on content is confirmed for the 2026 World Championships, with Pokemon Champions, Pokemon UNITE, Pokemon GO and the card game apps all marking the event. The exact items have not been detailed.
Pokemon Pokopia has sold more than 5 million copies
Nintendo says the building game passed 5 million sales in just over four months. That is roughly one in every five Nintendo Switch 2 owners.
Pokemon Bank closes on February 26, 2027
The Pokemon Company is shutting down Pokemon Bank, the storage app for the Nintendo 3DS. Transfers into Pokemon HOME stop on the same day, so anything still sitting in Bank after that is stuck there.
Pokemon HOME adds FireRed and LeafGreen in October, plus a Celebi reward
Pokemon HOME will support Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch starting in October. Finish the Pokedex in either game and you get a Celebi in the phone version of Pokemon HOME.
Pokemon Pokopia's Feebas event runs until August 28
A limited-time event called Fetching Scales for Feebas is live in Pokemon Pokopia until August 28, 2026. It adds Feebas and Milotic, plus scales to collect and new habitats to build.
