Pokemon HOME adds FireRed and LeafGreen in October, plus a Celebi reward
Pokemon HOME will support Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch starting in October. Finish the Pokedex in either game and you get a Celebi in the phone version of Pokemon HOME.
Pokemon HOME will start supporting Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch in October. Pokemon HOME is the storage service where you keep Pokemon outside of any single game, on Switch and on your phone. Until now the Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen had no way to connect to it.
There is a reward attached. Complete the Pokedex in Pokemon FireRed or LeafGreen and you get a Celebi in the phone version of Pokemon HOME. Nintendo Everything reports both details.
What "October" does and does not tell us
October is the month Pokemon HOME support arrives. It is not, on its own, a release date for the games.
The Switch re-release of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen has been announced, but no launch date for the games themselves has been confirmed in what we have seen. So one of two things is true: either the games land by October, or they are already expected out and the storage link follows later. Nobody has said which, and we are not going to guess. Our release calendar will carry the date the moment it exists.
The Celebi is a real prize, with a real cost
Celebi is a Mythical Pokemon. Those are the ones normally handed out at events or through limited giveaways rather than caught in the grass, which is why players chase them.
The condition is the hard part. Completing the Pokedex in these games means filling out the original Kanto list, and that has never been a casual afternoon. Historically it involves trading, since a single copy of the game never contains every Pokemon on its own. Whether the Switch versions change any of that is not something the report covers.
Worth knowing before you start: the reward lands in the phone version of Pokemon HOME specifically. If you only ever open Pokemon HOME on your Switch, install the phone app too.

What we still do not know
The report we have is a summary of a longer announcement, so some detail is missing. No word yet on whether the Celebi comes with a special mark or ribbon showing where it came from, whether it can be moved on into other games, or whether there is a deadline to claim it. Anyone telling you its exact level or moves right now is filling in blanks.
The safe read is the simple one. Support arrives in October, finishing the Pokedex earns a Celebi, and the rest gets confirmed nearer the time.
