Pokemon Pokopia has sold more than 5 million copies
Nintendo says the building game passed 5 million sales in just over four months. That is roughly one in every five Nintendo Switch 2 owners.

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company say Pokemon Pokopia has passed 5 million copies sold worldwide, counting both discs and downloads. The game came out on March 5, 2026, so it hit the number in a little over four months.
It is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, and that is what makes the figure interesting.
Why 5 million is a bigger number than it looks
Most games that sell 5 million do it on a console that is already in tens of millions of homes. Pokopia did it on hardware that is barely a year old. Reports put it at roughly one in every five Switch 2 owners buying the game.
For a spin-off, that is remarkable. Pokopia is not a main Pokemon adventure. There is no gym to beat and no team to train. It is a calm building and decorating game where you play as Ditto and turn an empty place into somewhere nice.
What it says about the next Pokemon games
There is a straight line from this to Pokemon Winds and Waves, the main pair arriving on the same console in 2027. Nintendo now has proof that Pokemon sells the machine, not just the other way round. Anyone who bought a Switch 2 for Pokopia is already there when the big games land.
It also makes the case for more games like this one. A spin-off doing these numbers changes what the company greenlights next.
What is coming for the game itself
The Expansion Pass is not finished:
- Part 1, Bubbly Basin, is out, and reviewed well
- Part 2 is due in late 2026 and adds accessories for your Pokemon to wear
- Part 3 is scheduled for 2027
