Pokemon GO's August raid line-up, plus a Water Festival and a Mega Starmie day
Groudon, Lunala and the three Regis take turns in five-star raids this month. The Water Festival brings Arrokuda and Cramorant, and Mega Starmie arrives on August 22.

August is a busy month in Pokemon GO. There is a new five-star raid boss almost every week, a week-long water event, and a one-day debut for a brand new Mega. Here is the whole month laid out, based on the calendar published by The Click.
Five-star raids, week by week
| Dates | Raid boss |
|---|---|
| August 5–12 | Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf, depending on your region |
| August 12–19 | Groudon |
| August 19–26 | Lunala |
| August 26 – September 2 | Regirock, Regice and Registeel |
The first week is the awkward one. Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf are split by region, so which of the three you can raid depends on where in the world you are. If you want all three, you need friends abroad and remote raid passes.
Mega raids
Megas rotate on the same weekly rhythm: Mega Blaziken from August 5, Mega Garchomp from August 12, Mega Swampert from August 19, and Mega Gyarados from August 26.
Water Festival, August 18 to 24
Ultra Unlock: Water Festival runs from August 18 to 24, each day from 10:00am to 8:00pm local time. Two Pokemon join the game with it: Arrokuda and Cramorant.
New additions are the part worth planning around. Spawn rates for a debut Pokemon are never as generous again as they are during the event that introduces it.
Mega Starmie arrives on August 22
Starmie Super Mega Raid Day runs on Saturday, August 22, from 11:00am to 5:00pm local time, and it is the debut of Mega Starmie.
Six hours is a comfortable window, but a Super Mega Raid is not a solo fight. If you want the Mega Energy, plan to be somewhere with other players rather than at a quiet Gym on your own street.
The one to circle
If you can only make one thing this month, make it the Water Festival week: two new Pokemon, ten hours a day, and it overlaps with the Mega Starmie day on the Saturday in the middle of it.
