The Legend of Capsakid is the newest entry in POKETOON, and it went up on the official Pokemon channel on August 6.
If you have not run into POKETOON before, it is the best thing Pokemon puts on YouTube and almost nobody talks about it. Each short is a standalone film, usually a few minutes long, and each one is made in a completely different animation style. Some look like storybooks. Some look like old hand-drawn cartoons. They are not episodes of anything and you do not need to have seen the others.
Why the series is worth your time
The main Pokemon cartoon has to keep a long story going for a young audience week after week. POKETOON has no such job. Each short gets one idea, a few minutes, and a free hand with the art, which is why they end up being the most interesting animation the franchise puts out.
They are also perfect for showing someone who is not into Pokemon. No backstory needed, no catching up, just a short film with a Pokemon in it.
