Horizons hangs its story on a group of legendary figures the show calls the Six Heroes. They are the thread that ties season two together, and the reason the cast keeps travelling.
You do not need to have followed every episode to watch this. That is the point of a collection like this one: it pulls the scenes that matter into one run so the story reads clearly.
Why start with Horizons
If you last watched Pokemon years ago, Horizons is the easy way back in. It is not a continuation of the Ash and Pikachu story. It starts fresh with two new leads, Liko and Roy, so there is no decade of backstory waiting to trip you up.
